Located in Whitehorse, Yukon, I grow and sell specialty houseplants, mainly gesneriads.

Gesneriads are a family of flowering plants, which includes African Violets, streptocarpus, primulinas, aeschynanthus (lipstick plants), nematanthus (goldfish plants), and many others. Many of the varieties I sell are unique hybrids that you won't find in local greenhouses or stores. I ship plants across Canada as well when the weather permits.

Where Did it Start?

My name is Stephanie and growing and propagating houseplants has been a hobby and interest of mine since childhood. Admittedly, I did once in my childhood try to turn this hobby into a business and went around the block in my neighbourhood with a wagon filled with spider plants and a few ivies and I had propagated and grown, selling them for 25 cents each. Needless to say, 12-year-old me wasn't very successful, and I afterwards still had about 30 spider plants to try and find space for!

African violets were always a particular favourite because of the many different coloured flowers they can produce. Once I discovered there were named hybrids with incredible patterns and complexities, I was hooked. Soon after, I starting hybridizing and growing violets from seed. Taking my enjoyment of these and other plants and making it a small business to share this joy with others seemed like the next logical step, so here we are!

Not Just a Business...

I am a firm believer in life long learning and experimentation as well as teaching and sharing knowledge. As someone who loves to teach, I very much enjoy sharing what I have learnt about indoor and outdoor gardening with others. That's why you'll find how-to videos on this website where I share tips for dealing with insect problems, cool tools and ideas, and general knowledge about different types of gesneriads. If you check them out, my hope is that you learn something new or are inspired to try something new!
